Fun Vacations Part 2
The purpose of this new page (replacing March break deals) is to suggest places to visit (and take suggestions) for a couple or family.
This picture is accurate as this was pretty much our view (and everyone’s view).
All windows face the ocean which is nice!
The hotel itself is located right across the street from beautiful Fort Lauderdale Beach and is not bunched in with a group of hotels as it is located right between a State Park and a Museum/Gardens area.
(In black marked with “Saia”)
We used Avios points to pay for nights here!
See our Avios page on how to collect those points – not the best use of Avios – but like the pros say “earn and burn” those points!
This hotel is great for a number of reasons:
1. Pool open 24 hours! Yes because no rooms actually face the pool this is a reality. This came in handy a couple nights after exploring the city to come back and jump in for a dip after midnight.
2. Poolside bar.
3. Bike rentals right there. This was a nice bonus as we didn’t have to walk 15 minutes to get bikes.
4. Nice restaurant on-site.
5. Easy and friendly valet service. (not free though)
We walked down to Las Olas Blvd the first night and saw what the area had to offer.
The Elbo Room bar is well known and a good place to have a drink. It is right at Las Olas and A1A (beachfront drive)
If you go up Las Olas (West) you will experience many restaurants/clubs etc and there is no shortage of things to do and places to see.
After walking one night we decide to cab it around after that – good idea.
The cabs were very reasonably priced and probably a better idea after you have walked that section once as it is very hot there depending on when you go.
Never worried about crime or anything like that as the A1A is very safe.
Of course there are many places to stay in Ft. Lauderdale but the Sonesta is a nice pick!
