I started doing these posts about 2 years ago and find people ask me alot of questions about cheap flights in the summer.
NOTE**** the prices of these flights are fluctuating right now – Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale can be sometimes lower – but all under $200 CDN
Late summer (end of August) usually offers some great deals on flights – many American schools have gone back and people are getting organized for back to school as well.
So today I’ll focus on Orlando. We have tossed around the idea of Disney in our household so I started looking at flights from Detroit – Orlando.
Since we live in the Detroit area all these posts are usually out of Detroit.
When I was doing general searches to get a ballpark figure for flights I was finding the average price was about $200 CDN – which is great to begin with!
But I like to look around and use Google flights – that program is awesome.
So here is the cheapest I could find – $124 CDN round trip from Sat. Aug 27 – Wed. Aug 31.
That is a pretty great price for a round trip flight to Orlando.
You could do a theme park or two, or just hang by the pool and relax.
Stay tuned for more on the Detroit Summer Series.
Karen has so many deals I really can’t post them all.

I have a friend now hooked on collecting points – it’s fun and who doesn’t love free travel, right?
Well, I have a bunch of co-workers and friends hooked, but sometimes people get into this more than others.
He makes the same statements I made 4-5 years ago as well, “it’s a no brainer, why wouldn’t you get that card”, “why doesn’t everyone do this” etc.
Because people don’t have time to track this stuff, people are poor at paying off debt, people forget. etc.
That’s why I set up the page How Do You Do This?
You do get a lot for $120 that is for sure.
If you stay in average hotels that go for about $125-$175/ night you end up with 4-6 free Marriott nights, 4-6 free Starwood nights and at least 1 free flight anywhere in Canada/US.
So that’s about $1500 or so in hotel nights and a $500 or so flight.
It’s $2000 or so worth of travel for one credit card fee of $120.
Can you do it year after year? Maybe.
Can you refer some of your friends and pick up free travel? Why not?

I’m looking out of Detroit for the May 20-23 weekend – Victoria Day! Only US destinations.
MAY 2-4 as we call it here – the unofficial start of summer.
And good news – it’s not all on Spirit! LOL
Philadelphia – $114 CDN on American Round-trip (only going to post round trip prices)
Boston – $188 CDN on Spirit
Atlantic City – $106 CDN on Spirit
Myrtle Beach – $262 CDN on Spirit
Orlando/Ft. Lauderdale/Tampa – $180-$200 CDN on Frontier and Spirit
New Orleans – $275 CDN on Spirit
L.A. – $315 CDN on Spirit
Just to name a few, but some nice deals out there!
